Hastelloy round bar holds its shape, strength and surface finish in chemical, thermal and pressure conditions that strip away standard stainless steel within months. Nickel forms the base of every grade, with chromium and molybdenum additions setting the corrosion resistance profile. That combination resists pitting, crevice attack and stress corrosion cracking across oxidizing and reducing environments alike. Chromium content is from roughly 14 to 22% across the family, and molybdenum from 9 to 17%, while carbon stays below 0.02% in every grade to limit intergranular attack after welding.
In the annealed condition, this bar carries a minimum tensile strength of 690 MPa (100,000 psi) and a yield strength of at least 283 MPa (41,000 psi). Elongation runs at 35% or higher. The bar stays ductile at cryogenic temperatures and holds its strength in continuous service up to around 800°C for most grades, with C2000 and C22 rated for higher short-term exposure. No grade in this range needs a mandatory post-weld heat treatment, which keeps fabrication straightforward for fasteners, shafts and fittings machined to size.
