Stainless steel 321 is a popular material in various industries. It is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability. Flanges are a crucial component in piping systems. They serve as a connecting point for pipes, valves, and pumps.
Stainless Steel 321 Flanges
Stainless steel 321 flanges are a fitting designed to connect pipes. They come in different shapes and sizes, commonly slip-on, welded, threaded, and socket-weld flanges. Stainless steel 321 flanges are made from an alloy that contains 17-19% chromium, 9-12% nickel, and 0.08% carbon. This alloy also contains titanium, which provides stabilization against the formation of chromium carbides during welding and maintains corrosion resistance.

Stainless Steel 321 Flanges Features
Stainless steel 321 flanges have many features that suit various industries. They have high strength and weldability, making them perfect for high-pressure applications. They also have excellent corrosion resistance, making them ideal for use in harsh environments. Additionally, they can withstand high temperatures of up to 900°C without losing their structural integrity.
Stainless Steel 321 Flanges Corrosion Resistance
Stainless steel 321 flanges are highly resistant to corrosion. The addition of titanium stabilizes the alloy, preventing the formation of chromium carbides that can lower corrosion resistance. The alloy is also resistant to acids, bases, and organic compounds, making it perfect for chemical and petrochemical industries. Additionally, stainless steel 321 flanges are resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion.
Stainless Steel 321 Flanges Chemical Composition
Stainless steel 321 flanges have an alloy composition that contains 17-19% chromium, 9-12% nickel, 0.08% carbon, 2-3% manganese, 1% silicon, and 0.5% titanium. Adding these elements gives the alloy unique properties, such as corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability.
Stainless Steel 321 Flanges Heat Treatment
Heat treatment is crucial in improving the strength and hardness of stainless steel 321 flanges. After being formed, the flanges undergo a process of annealing, which involves heating them to 1050-1100°C, followed by air cooling or water quenching. This process helps to remove stress and improves the machinability of the flanges. After annealing, the flanges can be further heat-treated using a process known as solution annealing, which involves heating the flanges to 930-1050°C, followed by rapid cooling in water.
