Monel 400 Flanges Features
Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and a wide range of acids and alkalis. That makes it perfect for marine and chemical processing environments. Monel 400 Flanges can withstand temperatures up to 1000 degrees Celsius without losing strength. They are also highly resistant to stress-corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion. Besides its corrosion-resistant properties, Monel 400 flanges also offer good mechanical properties and are easy to form, weld and machine.

Monel K500 Flanges Corrosion Resistance
Monel K500, on the other hand, is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy known for its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. It is also incredibly resistant to wearing and galling. Monel K500 flanges are widely used in seawater applications because of their exceptional resistance to corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking. They are also highly resistant to sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid environments. Monel K500 flanges can operate in temperatures of up to 700 degrees Celsius and are very durable, even in harsh conditions.
Monel 400 Flanges Chemical Composition
Monel 400 flanges are about 65% nickel and 33% copper, with iron, carbon, and silicon traces. The addition of copper provides Monel 400 with remarkable strength and is extremely corrosion-resistant. The low carbon content reduces hardness and increases flexibility, making it easy to form and machine. Monel 400 also has a low coefficient of thermal expansion, making it ideal for applications where dimensional stability is crucial.
Monel K500 Flanges Heat Treatment
Monel K500 flanges can be heat-treated to increase their strength and resistance to harsh environments. A standard solution treatment involves heating the flanges at 982 degrees Celsius for one hour and then cooling them in water. This treatment condition restores the alloys' excellent resistance to corrosion, stress-corrosion cracking, and high temperature. Besides, Monel K500 flanges can be hardened through precipitation hardening, which improves their strength and durability.
